


Backpacking Nutrition Consult
This is a one-time, 60-minute session with a Registered Dietitian (Stefan) to help you optimize nutrition for backpacking trips. In this session, we can discuss a variety of topics. Those include estimating your individual energy needs for a prolonged thru-hike, and creating a plan to help you meet those needs during your hike. We can also discuss fluid, electrolyte and micronutrient needs. Additionally, we can discuss how you can make safe, healthy and homemade backpacking meals by dehydrating food. After the session is over, you will receive an overview of topics discussed and pertinent nutrition information that can help you as you move forward.
For reference, I did my practicum research project in graduate school (at MSU-Denver) on backpacking nutrition! Though running is my main sport, backpacking nutrition is a subject I am passionate about and would love to help you plan your next thru-hike!
